Dear Mr Arthur
Re: Demolition plans for Telephone House
Thank you for your letter providing details of the plans for demolition of Telephone House. It appears that some vital information is missing which I hope you can clarify.
My questions are as follows:
- No mention is made of essential protection to the York Stone pavement slabs. These slabs exist at both ends of York Road and are listed. Will your demolition plan ensure that these pavement stones remain unharmed?
- The property I live in, has an underground cellar which reaches out underneath the pavement to the road edge. Does your plan protect against demolition traffic not causing structural damage to this cellar?
- Both these points will be irrelevant if CALA Homes and TWBC remain faithful to their original intentions of ensuring all demolition and building traffic uses Church Road, rather than York Road. What do your plans say in this matter? Your notification says nothing?
- What is the schedule for demolition? When does it start? When is it scheduled to finish and the building phase commence?
I look forward to your responses to these questions.
Yours sincerely
Peter Morse

Is CALA Homes really going ahead with THAT scheme?
