Re: Planning Application TW/00/01474/FUL/RCC
Church Road, Tunbridge Wells.
Dear Sirs,
It has come to my attention that, once again, a planning application has been filed seeking to build flats on the site of BT-Telephone House.
Having seen copies of the plans I wish to register my objection to the scheme in its current form and list the following concerns.
- Whilst the new design is much more in line with the existing properties in York Road, the density of the scheme, 43 flats on 0.3 hectares, is extremely high and runs against Regional and Government Policy guidance (RPG9, PPG3) of 30-50 units per hectare.
- Once again the plans make totally inadequate allowance for residents’ parking. The last scheme at least allowed for some parking access from Church Road whereas this scheme does not. The residents of York Road, who already have great difficulty in using their permit parking, will be further inconvenienced by the inevitable overspill from this new development.
- Access and egress solely from York Road is unacceptable. This is a quiet residential one-way street. Access to and from Church Road makes much more sense.
- The new plans seem to call for the removal of trees which line the current entrance to Telephone House. These trees are rapidly approaching maturity and make a welcome contribution to the street scenery.
- As a resident of one of the listed buildings in York Road, I am extremely concerned that the construction lorries using York Road will cause structural damage to the foundations.
- I would also ask that air pollution is kept to a minimum during construction work.
Yours sincerely,
