Telephone House, Town Centre, Tunbridge Wells - 17.02.2003
Unfortunately the 1st official complaint had to be filed. 17 February 2003 From: TelephoneHouse@aol.com To: mbaker@cala.co.uk [Malcolm Baker, Construction Manager]
Complaint about NOISE & POLLUTION - Telephones House, Tunbridge Wells Dear Mr Baker I tried to contact you on the number given to us (01784 225300) between 2 and 2.30pm but you were engaged, and I was told that you would ring me back, but have heard nothing. I live opposite Telephone House site, and the noise as from 8.15am this morning [Monday 17.02.03] has been appalling, due, I suspect, to the loading of iron girders into trucks. When these are dropped from a height, the vibrations can be felt in my house, and sometimes it shakes. We are not dealing with an earthquake, which is a natural disaster, this is man-made. Please would you instruct the demolition crew to load more carefully. I have spoken to Nigel Eveleigh about this and the level of dust in the air, which is causing eye and respiratory irritation. The vibration does no-one's property any good. Your demolition contractor maybe proud of working ahead of schedule, but this should not be at the cost of amenities and well-being of those living and working in the area of Telephone House. Yours sincerely
