The Telephone House Estate, Tunbridge Wells, Kent |
Is CALA Homes really going ahead with THAT scheme ?
The uncompromising execution of the most controversial planning consent of Tunbridge Wells' recent history is now carried out by CALA Homes.
Foundations laid for the 8 social flats - of the 43 flats on the 0.307 hectare site: York Road / Church Road
May 2003 - CALA Homes start with the erection of Block D on York Road providing for the 8 dwellings of social housing on their high density Telephone House Estate. Block D is built at 11 metres distance of opposite houses. Block D will also leave an unsightly gap between itself and the listed Trinity House. Privacy and overshadowing were not taken into account at planning stages.
Stuborn enough - CALA Homes implement - what is known to their directors as "hot potato and rotten apple" - a high density development of which "the final plans please no-one".
In the end CALA Homes prospective buyers will encounter problems i.e. lack of privacy, lack of sunlight/daylight, lack of amenities, insufficient parking, outdated town infrastructure, living in high density.
