I have received further correspondence on 11 May 2001 from Barton Willmore Planning in relation to the above planning appeal.

The proposed agenda for the Joint Central Board and Operational Services Board was published on Friday 4 May (3 working days before the meeting). This item consisted of the initial proposed deposit draft of the Tunbridge Wells Borough Local Plan Review. I should point out that this was the first time that this document was within the public forum and so it could not have been referred to before this time. I am now able to advise that following the meeting on 10 May, Members agreed to approve the document in its submitted form in so far as it relates to the appeal site. It will now need to be considered by Full Council on the 23 May 2001 for confirmation as to whether the document will now be the subject of formal public consultation.

The Council's position is that the draft policy is consistent with the case put on our behalf at the inquiry.

No doubt the Inspector will consider how much weight to accord to the emerging plan given the stage in the planning process it has reached.

Bizarrely, Policy H6(a) allocated for Telephone House was identical to the two refused planning applications for the Telephone House development. [1st: refused at delegated officers' level - 2nd: refused by the Councillors of the Western Area Planning Committee]. Policy H6(a) is the most controversial document, produced by the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, leading to the Telephone House Debacle.
