Telephone House Development - Environmental Issues

Thank you for your letter of 4th September, which we found very helpful. As you are aware the developer wishes to proceed as soon as possible with the demolition. If asbestos was removed in February presumably there would be no evidence left on which to base a prosecution.

- Who would be responsible for carrying out forensic tests before the demolition starts?
- Does your department have the authority to instigate such tests?
- Would you recommend the involvement of the Police at this stage?
