RESTORATION WORK DURING SUMMER 2006
RAILINGS of YORK TERRACE (Nos. 6 - 14 York Road), on the north side
and RAILINGS of No. 9 York Road and opposite Nos. 12 and 14 York Road, on the south side
Due to the vandalism incident of the railings at No. 8 in June and as No. 10 restored its railings in 2003, neighbours took the initiative to restore the listed railings along the whole terrace.
Cast iron replacements of this unique 'fleur de lys' finial and rods had to be cast in order to replace, repair and re-instate the railings set into the listed York stone slabs [laid by stone mason Jabez Scholes in 1847].
After the vandalism caused by 2 youngsters provisional railing had to be fixed at No. 8 York Road.
